About the coin: The Antoninian is a small silver coin of the Roman Empire, minted in 215 during the reign of Caracalla. The coin is named after Caracalla's name, Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. Antoninians were coins similar to denarii, but slightly larger, and depicted emperors with a radial crown on their heads.
On the 254-268 Antonini. Antoninianus, struck with a draped bust of the wife of the Roman Emperor Gallienus turned to the right. The name 'SALONINA' is carved in a semicircle above her. Cornelia Salonina was an Augusta of the Roman Empire (an honorific title of the Roman Empire given to empresses and honoured women of imperial families). She was the wife of the famous Roman Emperor Gallienus and the mother of Valerian Caesar, Salonina and Marinian.
Antoninian reverses vary by year respectively. The reverses depict the Roman goddesses Venus and Juno holding scepters and spears.
