Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts King of Denmark Christian IX, around are minted inscription "CHRISTIAN IX KONGE AF DANMARK" (eng. Christian IX King of Denmark). Also on coin obverse in the bottom are minted small heart, which is the mark of the Copenhagen royal mint, below year of coin and the letters "CS" or "VPB" which are the initials of the coin engraver.
Reverse: the female figure sitting in the throne is an allegorical personification of the kingdom of Denmark, in its left hand she hold a shield with three lions, and in the right hand has the symbol of power - The Skeptic. In front of her is a dolphin and behind her a sheaf of wheat. The denomination "10 KRONER" is minted at the top of the coin.
