Reverse: the coin features a gold nugget in the centre and the inscription 'FATHERS DAY 1979' underneath. The words 'AUSTRALIAN NUGGET', the weight and the precious metal '1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD' are engraved at the top and the year of minting '1987' at the bottom.
Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts Queen Elizabeth II of Australia (Australia has a constitutional monarchy under which Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is also Queen of Australia). The words 'ELIZABETH II' and the name of the country 'AUSTRALIA' are engraved around the Queen's image, with the denomination '25 DOLLARS' at the bottom. The designer's initials 'RDM' (Raphael David Maklouf) are engraved below the image of the Queen.
About the coin: this coin is part of the 1987 Australian Nugget Gold set, which consisted of four Australian gold coins in 1/10-1 Oz denominations, dedicated to the largest gold nuggets found.
