Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts the sower, the symbol of the French Republic, a young woman wearing a Phrygian cap sowing seeds at sunrise. Around her are 12 stars. Inside, the year '2008' and the mintmark 'RF'
Reverse: the reverse of the coin depicts Charlie De Gaulle, first President of the Fifth Republic. On the outer ring the words '50e ANNIVERSAIRE DE LA Ve RÉPUBLIQUE' and the denomination '20 EURO'.
