Obverse: the inscription 'CCCP' (USSR) surrounds the coat of arms of the Soviet Union in the centre. The latter consists of a sickle and hammer on a globe depicted in sunlight and encircled by bells. At the top of the coat of arms is a five-pointed star. The inscription at the bottom indicates the denomination '100 РУБЛЕЙ' (100 roubles).
Reverse: depicts the Lenin Olympic Stadium. The words 'ИГРЫ XXII ОЛИМПИАДЫ' (22nd Olympic Games) are engraved on the top. This event is also known as the 1980 Summer Olympics, held in Moscow, as depicted at the bottom as 'МОСКВА 1980' (Moscow 1980).
